MISSION STATEMENT

I strive to always remember where I came from, realizing the blessings God has given me and the struggles that He has brought me through. I keep Him in my life wherever I go and in whatever I do; He is first and foremost in my life. I aspire to label myself with honesty, integrity, and loyalty. I will continue to be passionate about the things that I have committed myself to do. I aim to live life without fear, yet fearing God. I will enjoy every moment along this journey, finding laughter, love, and happiness in each passing day.

Compassion Ministries

My junior year in high school, I lived with one of the most inspirational women in my life. Her name is Gloria Mellender and because of her model in my life, I desired to sponsor a child in Africa whenever I had the opportunity and the finances.

So my sophomore year at Baylor University, Compassion Ministries came to our chapel class and did a presentation. At the end of class they asked if anyone would like to sponsor a child. It was my perfect opportunity.

I went to their booth and saw “Nahawanbosu Innocent” — that is my child’s name, I fell in love with him at that very moment. I was so happy when I got him that I went and told my teammates at practice later that day.

We all took turns of trying to pronounce his name and had a pretty difficult time with it, so our team manager decided that I should call him “Ted” and that is what I still call him today.

I wrote Ted a letter and told him that my teammates and I decided to call him Ted because we couldn’t pronounce his name. He wrote back:

“I am so happy that you sponsor me, I am 6 years old, I work in the farm to help take care of my family and Jesus loves you”.

Right then I realized that the meaning of goodness is to doing something that pleases God.  I accomplish this to helping to eliminate hunger and poverty in the world.

By just helping one child, it makes a difference. Ted and I have a real relationship; we write to each other as often as we can.

I have been sponsoring Ted for 4 years now and it is one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done.

I will encourage you to talk with your family and friends and pray about doing this act of service for God, for a child’s life and for yourself as a human being.

Save a life today by sponsoring one child and help with the world’s poverty.  I promise you, you will never regret it.

The Bible said, “Store up your treasures in heaven, where moth and rots cannot destroy and thieves cannot break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there will also be your heart.” -Matthew 6:20-21 (INV)
